Aubrey, I adore today’s post. The flying squirrel details are fascinating and I love how you count the flowers I take home from the corner flower seller as an important strand in my life – so true! Trevette
Have been meaning to tell you how much I like the new format. Thanks for reminding us of the importance of connecting with nature every day, every chance we can!
Glad you like the new format! My goal is to try to make it almost as appealing as a visit to Nature, herself. Looking to add music, candles and wine!
This one needs nothing..
I needed it after contemplating Earth Day. My most recent contact with civic groups has left me very cold regarding mankind’s selfishness. I guess what really hurts me today, Earth Day, the most is the mail from Save Our Reefs. So I went back a few pages.
Thanks
Sorry you felt hurt, today, Ted. I know the kind of heartache that can occur when we face the reality of the natural world today. The reefs are a particularly sad story for those of us who spent decades snorkeling and diving with wonder and joy and now find so little left. Be glad that at least you had the experience that most young people will never be able to enjoy, now. Make a donation to your favorite cause. Maybe that will make you feel better. Hope so. xxxooo a
Well, it sure looks like you’ve got this website thing down pat. Beautiful!
Now can you get a picture of one of these Bull Mooses underwater?
I hate to upset your beautiful applecart but maybe for the next couple days land animals would be more appealing.
I adore today’s post about trees. I live in a 4th floor condo right next to a little woods . My trees nourish my soul. And, you’re so right, my lungs, too. My prayers and, as you so beautifully point out, carbon dioxide are also good for them. I tend to forget that. Must get myself down there and do your glorious exercise. Aubrey, dear, you must read Annie Dillard. I think you’re sisters. Thank you fror always giving me hours of pleasure with your exquisite words running through my thoughts. Trevette
Hi Trevette,
Your trees love you back!
Corn and forgiveness, oh, my. Marvelous ideas today. As always you truly give wisdom and also share your beautiful writing. Thank you, dear Aubrey. Trevette
Hi Trevette,
Yes, corn and forgiveness. Thanks for noticing! I got behind in my posting for a couple of days, here, but should be back on track now. No good excuse – or even a bad one!
Hope you’re doing well!

Aubrey, I keep thinking, I must live life as fast as possible. You put it so much more poetically today, thank you, Trevette
Just delighted in Small Talk.Hot enough for you? So nice being connected to you, dear Aubrey. Trevette
Aubrey, dear, Before I got to your last two sentences of Blackberries (with their word, weep) I was close to tears my self reading this stunningly beautiful post. Cry me a river, oh, I loved it. thank you, Trevette
Thanks, Trevette. Sometimes nothing important at all happens between people except that they are together.
Aubrey, In Natural Prayer, oooo, I love that last line. As we said in the 60s: HEA-VEY! Thank you, Trevette
Aubrey, dear, I just read your lovely August posts. I adore how you describe nature perfectly so I can just experience what you see hear smell, important, life-giving times to be with all of nature. On my wee 4th floor condo balcony with pots and pots of plants I’ve tried to make a welcome for wildlife. I’ve hummingbirds, spiders, wasps, all manner of other insects and frogs Wall frogs I call them since they must have gotten here via the walls. One night one climbed to the top of the N on my weathervane.Everything seems to be in nice balance. Last year I even had praying mantis, all the way up here! This year’s goal is to have fireflies nest in one of my plant pots. Don’t think that’s happened tho. So you see, i do love your exquisite nature writings. Thank you . AND i love your red underpants! I have a pair of those and wouldn’t mind a bit if they ended up showing in the manner yours did. Trevette. PS Just thought, with the red peekaboo you gave nature a show and she gave it right back to you!
Your dog days post is wonderful, as always, filled with your beautiful words. I can just see your dog and the tennis ball! Where in the sky can i see sirius? Out on my NW-facing balcony, I see no huge stars, though a lovely almost-half-full moon. Am I going to be able to see the dog star from that angle? Your posts always fascinate me, thank you, Aubrey, Trevette
